1951
Sumter Transport Company is founded in Sumter, South Carolina, providing cost- and labor-saving approaches to waste management and transportation.
1983
Intergulf Fuels is formed in Channelview, Texas, blending and selling bunker fuels in shore tanks in a public terminal.
1990
STC develops the first in its family of patents with the Roberoller agitated tanker system, which keeps heavy sludges in suspension during transport, preventing build-up of tanker heels.
1995
Intergulf Fuels partners with ChemSep, Inc., a leader in waste recycling and disposal.
1999
ChemSep, Inc. constructs the Bayport processing plant in Pasadena, Texas, expanding its innovative recycling services to wastewater, tank bottoms, and recoverable petroleum products.
2001
After a long partnership, Intergulf Fuels and ChemSep, Inc. merge to form Intergulf Corporation.
2006
STC partners with KilnDirect to provide customers with access to dedicated facilities where waste is repurposed to valuable fuel products.
2008
STC continues to pioneer innovative technologies, creating a better way to manage and transport waste.
2010
Intergulf constructs an atmospheric distillation column in La Porte, Texas, designed to refine mixed hydrocarbons for future use in petroleum products.
2015
An evaporative distillation unit and oil recovery unit are installed at Intergulf’s Hwy 225 facility, expanding its ability not only to recover but also to repurpose waste as part of blended fuels.
2018
By acquiring the Pasadena, Texas-based waste management business Lonestar Ecology, Intergulf boosts its ability to handle hazardous waste and expands solutions available to the Gulf Coast market.
2019
The acquisition of Beaver Oil, which provides waste management services in the Midwest, expands Intergulf’s geographic reach to include the nation’s second largest refining market.

Intergulf and STC come together to form CIRCON Environmental, a forward-thinking leader in refinery tank cleaning, transportation, and waste management.
2021
CIRCON adds Bealine Environmental, further expanding its wastewater treatment capacity in the Gulf Coast market. CIRCON now operates 3 centralized waste treatment facilities in the Gulf Coast.

CIRCON adds Water Integrated Systems (WITS), further expanding its wastewater treatment capacity in the Midwest market. CIRCON now operates 4 centralized waste treatment facilities in the Midwest.

A merger with industry-leading operators Chemtron, Vexor, and KilnDirect further expands CIRCON’s market reach, processing capabilities, and capacity to provide sustainable alternatives to waste management while creating value-generating waste-derived fuels.

Mr. Burkhardt has spent more than 25 years working in the waste, recycling, processing, and industrial services industries. He is currently serving as the VP of Client Services and has previously held positions as VP of Sales, Director of Sales, and Business Unit Manager for companies in the same industry.

He’s held positions in operations, transportation, warehousing, sales, and management, and throughout the course of the last decade, he’s focused his expertise on the management of health, safety, and environmental affairs.

Higginbotham

Sr. VP and Chief Sustainability Marketing Officer

Mr. Higginbotham has more than 30 years of experience in environmental services, focused on the refinery and petrochemical industries. As the Sr. VP of Business Development, he manages the corporate-level relationships for all of our refinery and petrochemical customers and leads our sustainability efforts. He serves as a nonvoting board member at American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) and serves on their Environmental and Sustainability Committees.

Khan

VP of Sales & Business Development
in the Midwest

Mr. Khan is a 30-year veteran in the industrial waste arena. He has a proven track record of implementing growth sales strategies, identifying clients and increasing sales volume. Before joining CIRCON, he held senior positions in emergency spill response, TSDF part B management, Super Fund Region V clean-ups, industrial maintenance, and sales.

Mason

Director of Business Development

Mrs. Mason has a distinguished 20-year career in national sales and marketing, with the last 10 years focused on industrial waste disposal and sustainability. In her previous experience at companies including Republic Services and Stericycle she held national account roles working with a multitude of industries.

Chief Operating Officer

Between his past tenure at Waste Management and his time at Intergulf (now CIRCON Environmental), Mr. Sansom has more than two decades of experience in the solid waste industry. Since joining Intergulf nearly 16 years ago, he has held roles in sales, accounting, and operations.

Sr. VP, Energy Recovery Group

Throughout his 32-year career, Mr. Sears has developed a keen expertise that helps drive new business and innovation. In his position at CIRCON, he is responsible for leading and growing the Energy Recovery Group, which produces non-hazardous secondary material engineered fuels as a replacement for coal and other non-renewable fossil fuels.

VP of Sales & Marketing, Energy Recovery

Mr. Surane has spent more than three decades working in sales and marketing, focused on waste treatment, recycling, disposal, and energy recovery. In his role at CIRCON, he oversees the company’s network of TSDFs, splitting time between the Midwest and Texas to best serve clients across regions.
